Your Perfect Pokémon Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution Based on the Zodiac Sign

The return of Super Forms in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has ignited widespread excitement within the fandom. From the gradual unveiling of fresh additions before the title's launch, to trainers forming strong views on the full lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for enthusiasts to look forward to.

With numerous of the Super Forms showcasing distinctive designs that highlight their traits, one thought naturally: What's the best way to connect this with zodiac signs? The following is inspired by a blend of intuition, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.

Aries – Mega Camerupt

To be truthful, Houndoom was nearly selected for Aries, as they are the Mega Pokémon and zodiac symbol that inspire the most fear. But, a Super Houndoom comes across as always furious, which doesn't match the Aries vibe, renowned for being fun, cheerful, and impulsive. That's why Aries much more akin to Mega Camerupt, which solely erupts when angered. Stay on the friendly side of either and enjoy a powerful partner; if you cross them, be ready to face the consequences.

Taurus – Mega Heracross

Much like a loyal Taurus, the reliable Heracross, both in its standard and Super Form, has aided numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. Though dependable, each the Pokémon and a Taurus are still battle-oriented, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will stand up for their side unwaveringly. What about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Bull-sign companions, however, is its unabashed love of snacks. Many previous Pokédex entries note their fondness for sweet sap and how it employs its horn to hoard it all, which is pure Taurus energy.

The Twins – Super Medicham

Observe this total queen. It's impossible to convince me this creature is not the soul of any gathering, offering an constant stream of gossip to those who wants to hear. Just like an enrapturing, sociable Gemini, it's incredibly easy to envision Super Medicham mesmerizing an whole Wild Zone with their tales. Medicham’s Pokédex entry also states its ability to foresee an opponent's future actions, which seems quite similar to a socially-savvy Gemini.

Cancer – Super Manectric

Cancer is widely considered as the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, a passionate sign known for often getting wrapped up in their emotions. Per the official info, Super Evolution fills the creature with a “huge amount of energy, but it's too much for this Pokémon to completely control,” which sounds a lot like a typical Crab emotional outburst. This Pokémon is also recognized for its ability to make a thundercloud over its own head – and if there’s one thing a Cancer is going to do, it’s spoil their good time.

The Lion – Super Starmie

Well, did you think I was going to select the lion Pokémon for the king of the zodiac? Aside from the reality that it would be much too obvious, The Lion is clearly Mega Starmie, the diva whose legs just became an internet sensation for being extremely glamorous (or terrifying, based on your preference). Fans couldn’t look away from the violet starfish, and that’s precisely the same vibe a Lion offers to the table. This Pokémon is also said to be transmitting radio waves from its center out into the cosmos, and it’s just like a Leo to be putting on a performance, albeit for aliens.

Virgo – Super Victreebel

The always-ready and perpetually-anxious Maiden is ideally encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Super Form with constant acid reflux. The zodiac symbol famous for being endearingly critical is strongly mirrored across this creature's whole evolutionary chain, from a always surprised expression like a Virgo when you tell them you lack a 401(k), to its upside-down visage that’s similar to the symbol a Virgo sends to the group chat when everyone says they want to “be spontaneous” rather than creating a strategy.

The Scales – Mega Audino

Look at this sweet, empathetic creature, who employs the feelers on its auditory organs to detect how others are feeling by their heartbeat. Consistently compassionate – sometimes to a fault – and striving to keep the harmony, there are numerous Scales who would likely appreciate Super Audino's skills. Though, to be frank, it would probably just make them worry even more about everyone else.

The Scorpion – Super Banette

This Ghost-type is a creature with a unexpectedly tragic origin: Abandoned as a doll, it became sentient through pure resentment and vowed retribution on its former owner. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That sounds exactly like many conversations I’ve had with my scary Scorpio acquaintances. A Scorpion adores karma and retribution, making them the perfect match with Mega Banette.

Sagittarius – Mega Hawlucha

Both Mega Hawlucha and Sagittarians are constantly putting on a performance. Being a Archer myself, the number of times I’ve called myself some variation of a “playful small entertainer” is countless. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Super Form, its Pokédex entry even mentions how it “poses to show off its power.” I would do the exact same thing if I had some kind of Super Form, making Mega Hawlucha the most fitting Sagittarius counterpart I can imagine.

Capricorn – Mega Absol

Did you know that a Super Absol has the power to predict calamities in advance? That gives the exact same energy as a Capricorn, who tends to consistently believe they’re correct. Interestingly, much like a prophetic Mega Absol, they often are. It’s also the absolute first Super Form that players encounter in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to get in on the beginning of the Mega trend.

The Water Bearer – Super Chandelure

Aloof air sign Water Bearer is possibly the non-flame placement that is closest to a flame symbol – its sister sign is the Lion, and there are numerous memes about the Archer and Water Bearer being unpredictable accomplices. Mega Chandelure’s dual Spirit/Flame typing fits perfectly with this, and the Mega’s general intimidating presence is also very Water Bearer. If you weren’t already persuaded, the Super Form's description says it “draws in hatred and transforms it into strength.” If that doesn’t exactly {encaps
