Alina Habba has resigned as the US Attorney for New Jersey. This follows a court battle that invalidated her right to serve.

The nation's top law enforcement official, the Attorney General, confirmed the prosecutor's departure on the start of the week. Bondi stated that the court's "flawed" ruling made it impossible for her to perform her duties.
"But do not mistake compliance for surrender," Habba stated. "The effort will now extend throughout the nation."

The departure comes a week after a US appeals court ruled that she had been serving in violation of the law as the federal prosecutor. This ruling is could influence numerous criminal cases in the Garden State.

The 41-year-old attorney, originally became part of the former president's legal defense in recent years. She went on to represented Trump in his hush-money trial in the previous year, which resulted in his conviction on multiple felony counts of falsifying business records.
Before Habba took on the role of US Attorney, Trump had stated he was naming her as his White House advisor if re-elected, describing Habba as a steadfast ally and a "tireless advocate for justice".
