Trump Business Sought to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity increased its recruitment of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the same, a report published Thursday stated.

According to data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for short-term roles at the former president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for workers including servers, office assistants, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever submitted by the organization, and increased from 121 in 2021, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that Trump had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a crackdown on immigration laws by his government that has included the introduction of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who possess American work permits; and tighter regulations for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the business sought to hire over 560 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was questioned by certain in the GOP this period for comments defending the necessity for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a country is entering, going to spend billions to build a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the pay of US workers.

The administration declined a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
