The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Secures a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the channel unveiled a fresh animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. In an era often marked by dark humor, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about watching this endearing family go about their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to help comedy break out of its prevailing cynical streak. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
