The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
