Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however will the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.

A family member advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have have lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
