Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for information.

A senior representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
